Prerequisites: This 2-day course is open to Veterinarians, Physical Therapists, Veterinary Technicians, and Physical Therapist Assistants who have successfully completed Introduction to Canine Rehabilitation. All CCRTs, CCRAs, and Veterinarian and Physical Therapists who are CCRPs are welcome. Veterinary Technicians and Physical Therapist Assistants that are CCRPs must submit an Employer Agreement Letter.

Course Description: The Multimodal Approach to the Geriatric Canine Patient provides students with an understanding of advanced care for this growing population. Students apply best practices of nutrition to optimally meet the nutritional needs of senior dogs. Students also refine nutritional assessments and make recommendations for nutritional management of common conditions affecting geriatric patients. This course covers the physiology of osteoarthritis and chronic pain and how to most effectively manage this condition with drugs and nutraceuticals. Students learn specific rehabilitation concepts and techniques designed for geriatric patients including manual techniques, hydrotherapy and therapeutic exercise. Hands-on labs are included.
